We hit the Idrijca Valley mid-week with our colleague David from States. Starting with a bluebird sky and drifting dry flies on upper part of Idrijca River. We could have moved volume of fish, as they were on the move in the lower water column, but the preferences were clear, dry fly sport the preferred technique. Few bow's and a brown trout were exchanging hands and freed to thrive in the rive.
Already our last trips to water have been rather good fish-wise and the activity has been ramped-up considerably (see former posts). Last few days guiding our regular guest from Germany, we had seen a good sport and solid performance of our colleague.
In anticipation of fishing on mysterious Vipava River, a lot of planning went in… the memories of glorious, off days and average days intermixing with the facts what hatches were on, tactics that were successful, have preceded the longish talks with my colleague.
