We hit the Idrijca Valley mid-week with our colleague David from States. Starting with a bluebird sky and drifting dry flies on upper part of Idrijca River. We could have moved volume of fish, as they were on the move in the lower water column, but the preferences were clear, dry fly sport the preferred technique. Few bow's and a brown trout were exchanging hands and freed to thrive in the rive. We hit the Idrijca Valley mid-week with our colleague David from States. Few bow's and a brown trout were exchanging hands and freed to thrive in the river. The Idrijca River is always makin' us ready to test our limits. Just after mid-day another summer storm hit the Valley and the nearby hills of “Trnovski gozd”, slowly making the Idrijca unfishable. The water was coloring fast and we were targeting a nice native off app. 20 inches, in our lingo we call them »yellow fish« – marble-, hybrid- or brown trout – but after 1 hour of casting, trying to get a drift just right and changing flies we couldn't make it. In the meantime, the river went a foot higher, therefore we switched the spot to a position downriver prospecting for an active fish. Finding few and getting the last one marble hybrid in the purring rain. In another half an hour the stream went another foot higher, making the water running too murky to make it fishable. All in all, we had a blast of the day on the dry fly! You are warmly welcome to join us. In next day’s Slovenia Lakes tour is on – check out our journal and social feed regularly. Sasa & Bostjan
