This year we have seen a solid trend of ladies and younger gal's willing to explore, what's the fuss with this thing called Fly fishing. Even though die-hard fly-fishing aficionados sometimes approach fishing ladies with a notion, what have they lost at the stream, most of us are pretty stoked with this trend. Coming from the guiding background, there are few distinctive advantages provided with most female fly-anglers - guests. ![]() It is of utmost importance for the novice, to listen to “your guide” and put the lessons learned in practice. For ladies and gals out there, it comes naturally to listen to advice, but not so for our male guests. Over complicating and wanting to make it better then advocated, seems to be a in male nature – male-ego I guess In addition, the multitasking woman, seems to have an upper-hand, when learning fly fishing from the scratch. She exemplifies the ability, to manage complicated things and put them into a manageable piece, which she then ties together. Whereas, a male gets totally distracted, by the wealth of not-easily digestible information, the female grabs them and puts them into praxis. This shows in low water situation, normally corresponding to slow fishing; woman is able to stick to the basic nymphing technique and after a good hour falls into a steady rhythm, catching fish or two. The male beginner on the other hand, starts losing his wits soon and tries to sort fishing by himself. Off course falling deeper into a black zone, spooking a fish here and there and in the process losing his patience. Not an easily curable situation for any guide out there. Sometimes it is better to just stop fishing the spot and change the scenery for the sake of it. And the most important fact for the end. It is the patience, that girls, gals and ladies, seems to bring with them. Admittedly, they also get pissed, when losing a big fish, but with the adrenaline rushing through the vein’s mistakes happen. Even so, they get back into the rhythm soon and that is the prerequisite for any successful fly-fisher out there. Getting into the zone and immerse into the experience. We also met very good fly fisher woman out there and with more coming into sport, we look forward to cross fly-rods in the near future. What’s left, is just an invitation for ladies to not get scared off, by the male fly-fisherman! But don’t take just our word on it – we invite you to explore the testimonial of one of our guest fishing beautiful Savinja River!
