This year the longish white winter took a toll on alpine rivers water levels. Snow melt in Julian Alps affected river flows till mid-June. As soon as the flows stabilized we - a colleague of mine and yours truly – explored Slovenian lakes fishing. Although the lake wasn't in its best form – higher waters and lower part somewhat murky from the snow-melt, we couldn't wait any longer. ![]() Book tripOnly few cars parked at the parking area indicated that the fishing was not perceived at its best. We made our belly boats ready and hitting the lake just before noon. Me choosing the long line approach midging and a colleague chosen slinging streamers. Midge fishing wasn't productive at all and after a colleague had few hits on streamer, me changed the line to the intermediate and having few contacts in next minutes. The afternoon went slow, with an odd fish here and there, but nothing really big. Only few rainbows brought to the net, few bendos in the rod and few shakes was all we could write home about. We will hardly await our next outing – waiting for the lake flats to be productive again. You are warmly invited to join us in July, when lake trout and rainbows get into steady feeding frenzy! Give it a go and we promise, you'll hardly await the next session... It is really that good! Sasa
